SQREAM Ride To Festival Italiano
September 24, 2006

Dan was the ride leader and he and his partner John put together a great pre-ride breakfast at their home near Cheesman Park. We had two kinds of breakfast pizza, fruit, bread and juices. After much socializing and catching up, 19 riders headed out to the Festival Italiano in Belmar. We had a few Stella Stars join us and had 2 vintage Vespas in the mix. The morning was cool but sunny with clear blue skies. Our attempt to ride around Cheesman was thwarted by an event which had shut down the road around the park. So we head to Alameda only to discover a large section of the road was being repaved, with traffic very backed up. Lucky for us, Carol knew of a back way around the construction and we had a nice scenic route. When we arrived at the festival, our reserved scooter parking had been swiped by some vintage Italian cars so we just parked with the Harleys nearby. Because the weather the day before was bad, everyone and their Italian mama show up, making for a very crowded festival. Lots of people gathered round the scooters to check out the Italian Vespas and other scooters on display.
